The Writer's Chatroom website  copy for the landing page (which was reflected in the write-up in Writer's Digest's "101 Best Websites for Writers" print and electronic publication):

Celebrity Sundays:

Famous writers, up-and-coming authors, and other notables closely tied to the writing and publishing industry will be our featured guests each Sunday at 7:00 PM EST.  These chats will be moderated to allow those in attendance to gain the most from each chat.

Guest chats are moderated using a queue format.  No password needed for scheduled chats!

You need not be a member of TWC to attend chats, but you must subscribe to  receive updates and scheduled guest information.  (see top left of page)

Open Chat Wednesdays:

We’ll be flinging open the doors each Wednesday from 8:00 to 11:00 PM EST for open discussions between writers and aspiring writers. Sometimes there will be a topic, others will be open for any and all questions from the chatters.

(Caveat:  The room will be open for writers to talk to each other.  If the room is abused, the open time will be discontinued. We must do this to protect the owner and moderators in today’s litigious society.  Transcripts of all open chats will be made available to law enforcement, if necessary.)

Critical Correspondence:

Dear Senator ____________ (?-State),

Thank you for your efforts on behalf of fiscal--and intelligent--government responsibility. Thank you, especially, for standing up to our totalitarian-leaning president.

The health care bill now before Congress is an atrocity in the making. It is a holocaust in the making. It is nothing short of forced and legalized genocide of our unborn, our children with health issues, our developmentally delayed--"retarded"--and our senior citizens. It will give big government unlimited and never-ending powers over our citizens' lives--and deaths.

Yes, I've read it. All of it. I have not "misunderstood", nor have I been "misinformed" as to its meaning. My insurance background made it highly understandable. This same understanding makes me aware of the possibilities open to Mr. Obama and his Marx/Lenin/Alinsky-trained cohorts if this bill passes.

I believe in honest and open debate, not strong-arm tactics. I believe in peaceful resolutions. I believe that hired thugs may have been lined up to, potentially, provoke violence against anyone who fails to agree with Mr. Obama et al, at town hall meetings. Please note the corruption correlation between the DNC/police action of 1960's infamy and what is happening now.

Mr. Obama and his brute-force brood do not want open debate. They do not want honesty. They plan to ramrod this down our throats as if we were/are merely serfs with no voice.

Such megalomaniacal elitism appalls me. It galls me. It makes my blood run red, white, and blue.

I'm sure a majority of our non-entitlement-receiving legal Americans will come to the same conclusion if Mr. Obama is forced to be honest with them--which he has failed to do repeatedly. Thankfully, he is now being "fact-checked" by some in the media. He is failing miserably.

We need Welfare reform, not this deathcare plan. Welfare should be a helping hand up, not a lifelong, multi-generational career choice. We need job creation, not internment camps for those who oppose big government. We need responsible manufacturing and strictly enforced--and fair--environmental guidelines, not Cap and Tax. We need a return to common sense in government, not runaway budgets with no spending limits--to be paid for by future generations of an already bankrupt nation.

We must stem the tide of gnawing attempts at censorship, a plan to strip us of our freedom of speech. We must throw down any and all attempts to disarm law-abiding citizens. We must rid ourselves of the Austria/Switzerland/London-based legalized thievery that is the Federal Reserve. We need strong voices in Congress to protect our Constitution and Bill of Rights. We need for our government to get out of the auto-making, consumer lending, and banking businesses.

We need for the Obamas to live like they are Americans and not merely Elitists who've ascended the throne. Which brings me to this point: Why does Michelle Obama need 20+ staff at a salary-only cost of over $1.25 MILLION per year? This flings cow feces in the faces of the hard-working newly-unemployed with families to feed, mortgages to pay, and losses of investments and benefits now and in the future.

Mr. Obama is un-fit to lead America. If he wants a Socialist/Communist dictatorship so badly, he needs to offer his services elsewhere.

Mr. Obama’s skin color means nothing to me or to my family and we're fed up with the race card being thrown in our faces every time we disagree with him, his policies, or the actions of thugs seemingly operating at his behest.

Please let Mr. Obama know that he's not in Chicago anymore. However, ACORN ballot-stuffers aside, the majority of Americans are awakening to his blasphemy and may soon be happy to send him back to happily reside with Rezko and Blago for as long as he would like. This is still a "free" country, after all.

I'm not a terrorist. I'm appalled that I may be listed and/or treated as such if Mr. Obama's plans are not tempered. I'm a XX year-old with a penchant for learning from history. I can no longer march, but I can hold a sign while being pushed in my wheelchair.

Quite frankly, Senator, I don't see much difference between what Mr. Obama is attempting to do now and what Hitler did in 1930's Germany; what Marx, Lenin and Stalin did in Russia; or what has happened in North Korea, China, Cuba, Iraq, Iran... The list is long, the lessons are many, and as Americans we have no excuse for not calling it what it is.

If Mr. Obama is allowed to give amnesty to the millions of illegal aliens now in this country to buy their votes, we may never be able to vote him out--if we're still allowed to vote at all.

I am crying out for the dignity of the hard-working newly-unemployed American workers, for those foreclosed on and displaced by Clinton's crisis-making mortgage debacle of the 1990's, for those who may not have a voice if this health-care reform bill is passed.

If there is anything I might help you with in your efforts to bring sanity back to our Capitol, please do not hesitate to call on me. I have limited energy, but will give 100% of what I have to help my country return to one I and my family might be proud of again.

None are so hopelessly enslaved as those who falsely believe they are free.--Goethe

Respectfully,

Publicity/Marketing/Promotion:

After award-winning author Jordan Dane sold her first 3-books in auction to Avon/HarperCollins in June 2006, her debut title "NO ONE HEARD HER SCREAM" held more significance. Everyone heard her scream! And this went double when she sold another 3-book series in May 2007 without having one book on the shelves yet.

Ripped from the headlines, Jordan's gritty suspense plots weave a tapestry of vivid settings, intrigue, and dark humor. Her first back-to-back releases are planned for Apr, May and Jun 2008.

In spring 2008, take a front row seat to suspense with Jordan Dane's NO ONE HEARD HER SCREAM, NO ONE LEFT TO TELL, & NO ONE LIVES FOREVER.

Jordan was guest of honor at 7 virtual book tour stops sponsored by The Writer's Chatroom.

She and her husband now share their Oklahoma residence with an intelligent canine and two cats of highborn lineage.

A call to action that's not so "sales-y":

BABY CUDDLERS: VOLUNTEER TO CUDDLE BABIES
by Linda J. Hutchinson
Baby cuddlers are needed in orphanages, neonatal hospital units, group homes, nurseries, and wherever else there are babies and young children who may not have adequate human contact early in life to begin developing social interaction skills.

Sometimes infants are removed from parental care at birth. This is especially true when the mother is addicted to drugs. The baby cuddler programs now in place at most children's hospitals grew out of the "crack baby" epidemic of the early 1990's. Touch is especially important for these tiniest of humans to develop into loving and caring adolescents and adults. You can make a life-long difference in their lives when you choose to become a baby cuddler.
