"Linda, what a wonderful site. I have a monthly newsletter. May I write a blurb about your site and include your contact information for my August newsletter? I write for the Christian market, but I also do copywriting and found so many links that were very helpful." --Barbara Warren, www.barbarawarren bluemountainedit.com (you'll need both lines)
My response: "You betcha, Barbara! And THANK YOU!
"Working with Linda was a pleasant experience. Her professional and punctual manner made our relationship smooth yet fun. I can recommend her as courteous, friendly, and easy to work with."

Services The purpose of advertising is to create sales. Period. Great headlines bring them in and great Ad Copy will close the deal. This is true, no matter the medium utilized, no matter what product you're selling. Who/what is your target audience/market? What is the purpose for your ad? (Branding? Boost sales? Dispense information? Fundraising?) Why should someone buy from you? Or donate to your organization? Or participate in your event? There are different forms of ad copy; hard-hitting sales and the softer "advertorial" types are the most common. Email me for a Project Questionaire so we can work together to decide on the best starting point. I'll do the research and write effective headlines - and then we'll fine-tune the copy. Your ads may not be glamorous or win an Addie, but they'll be effective. Effective is what affects your bottom line. Pricing: Too many variables to quote without in-depth information included in the Project Questionaire. Article Marketing starts with content-rich SEO-enhanced writing that will drive traffic to your website or blog. Typically the article is about a topic that showcases your company or services, or is in a closely related field. There are a number of online venues that will accept your articles. Unlike the articles available on the "Free to Publish" page here, your article will be ghostwritten (work for hire) and include your name and website address, not mine, in the bio box. You will be given the article in Word format. You own the copyright and may use it however you wish. Pricing: $130 for a 500-word article. Biographical sketches (Bios) can be about a person or a company. While a business bio gives information about the products and services your company offers, a personal bio gives the highlights of your personal strengths, as well as, your professional/career path, education, and may include personal information such as marital status, number of children, etc. Personal bios are often used in corporate newsletters when a new employee is added to the management or executive team, or to introduce a speaker. Flat rate pricing: $.25 per word of finished product. Example: 500 words would cost $125.00. Brochure copy is another instance of Ad copy. I may be able to assist with simple design elements, but alas, I'm a writer and not a graphic artist. I can, however, set you up with kick-ass copy! Pricing: There are too many elements involved to even guess at a range without at the very minimum, the Project Questionaire. Business blogs are a great way to keep your name in front of clients and customers. They work best if each post is content-rich and SEO-enhanced - and updated at least once per week. Your clients may opt to receive RSS feeds so they don't miss a post. Blogs set up through Blogger or Wordpress are free. If you'd prefer to shoot quick sketches for updates to me through email, I'll write the post and upload for you as often as you'd like. Pricing: $.10 per word. Example: 250 word post would be $25.00. Byline articles are what I've been writing every 4th week for Construction Equipment Guide magazine since 2005. I research to find a story involving heavy equipment construction (as the Ohio correspondent), write it, and send it to my editor to publish. It's a great arrangement. I write/submit and they publish/pay. In the case of your company newsletter or magazine, I would ask for direction regarding what topics you'd like covered for each issue and then interview/research and write the articles on schedule. Pricing: There are many too many variables to give even a fee range without further information. Corporate Profiles are typically used to inform media, clients/customers, or the general public about your company. This can take many forms, from a few printed sheets with basic information to a full-on 4-color glossy production with professional photography. Topics often covered include bios of key personnel, the corporate make-up, company history, info about the founders, the historical significance of products or services, and may or may not include financial information. Pricing: Too many variables to give a fee range. Critical correspondence might include internal memos, confidential and/or discretionary information, letters to politicians or governmental agencies, or anything else deemed "critical" in the immediacy of dissemination. Professional polish is expected when dealing with the government in most forms. It also doesn't hurt for the hierarchy of a company to look good in the eyes of its employees. I am most happy to work under non-disclosure agreements. (Although I would not ever share confidential information anyway.) Pricing: Too many variables to give a fee range. Editing/Proofreading: Copyediting: Includes making your manuscript more publisher-ready by pointing out and marking issues involving POV, formatting of dialogue, grammar/spelling/punctuation errors and awkward transitions, proper alignment and spacing of text - and marking purple prose/hyperboles, redundancies, and a host of other common errors found in fiction and non-fiction manuscripts. This does not include a re-write of your mss! I'll accept your mss in Word .doc format on CD, or you may mail me a printed copy. Pricing: $3.75 per (typical/standard) 250-word page. $75 minimum. ($50 minimum for a newsletter up to 12 pages.) Proofreading: A complete proofread of your mss should be done before sending it off to an agent or publisher. This is after it has been written and edited to near perfection. I'll accept your mss in Word .doc format on CD, or you can snail mail a printed copy. Pricing: $2.00 per (typical/standard) 250-word page. $50 minimum. ($30 minimum for a newsletter up to 15 pages.) Ghostwriting: A ghostwriter is someone who does what most non-writers wish they could do, but usually gets no credit for it. I say usually because this is an area that is usually negotiated between the ghostwriter and the person/entity whose name will go on the finished product. Many politicians and celebrities use the services of ghostwriters. These are works for hire and the copyright is held by the person whose name is on the work to do with as they see fit. I've been asked to ghostwrite when the non-writer has kept scrupulously clean written and audio notes, annotated and cross-referenced with a complete bibliography (for non-fiction), and I've been approached to ghostwrite (fiction) when the notes - all on various sizes and shapes of torn-from-anything paper (to include toilet tissue, however thankfully, unused) - and the mess was then dumped into a milk crate--or three. The first author has been a pleasure to work with although the process has been slowed due to her health. However I respectfully and gracefully declined to become involved in the latter. Pricing: $55 per hour. The more work the author does in the way of researching, interviewing, outlining, transcribing notes, writing a rough draft, using a spell-checker/dictionary/thesaurus, the less time I'll have into the project and the less it will cost. Internal memos: See Critical Correspondence. Newsletters: Does your company put out a newsletter? Is it sent to employees only? Customers/clients? A newsletter is an effective way to keep the company message flowing, whether it's emailed or snail mailed. Some of the best I've seen over the years have contained contests (to increase the number of readers), jokes, requests for input, class info, specials offers, and just abut anything else you could imagine. Pricing: There are too many variables to even hazard a range. Press/Media kits: An absolute must for writers, authors, actors, lawyers, doctors/dentists, and businesses of all types. Pricing: There are too many variables to even hazard a range. Press Releases: Contact me for pricing. Web Content: Contact me for pricing.

"Linda J. Hutchinson writes a broad spectrum of things from nonfiction articles to book reviews. The thing that won her a spot on my Bookmark It list is what she's written on her website. First off, check out her "For Writers" link. She starts off the page by giving some advice--realistic advice, not fluff. The she lists books she recommends, conferences and even where to go to get business cards and even free promotion. Then move on to her "Links for Writers" page. Lots of links. Not organized. Not alphabetized. But you're bound to find some useful stuff there - freebies, organizations, classes, computer help, contracts, legal, dictionaries, and more. She has a lot to explore, just on those two pages, so give yourself plenty of time to browse." bookmark-it-linda-j-hutchinson.html
